Minstrel - Mon Masque

lyrics

MINSTREL

If I could just hear the secrets of your heart
I could, I would… find the melody

I could dress the part
Or even paint my face
Singing songs in rhymes
The words they interlace
Would you think me a fool, or cry insanity?

The children gather round
To watch the minstrel dance
The colours and music blind
Holding eyes in trance
Swaying backward, forward
Rejoicing vanity
He lets his arms embrace you in the serenade
But look for where you go, you walk the fool’s parade

You let go, you dance
You’d give anything while given the chance
Watch where they go
You’d be losing the lot if you don’t catch the show

From his heart, he sings
From the depths of his soul comes a spark of dreams
Watch where he goes
You’ll be losing the chance to redeem your soul

Does he hold the key?
Can he set me free?
Mending hearts with melody…
One last look is all it takes
To claim your spirit,
Music raptures, numbing sadness
Can’t you… won’t you give yourself to me?

Fading sadness, passing fleeting
Rhythm charming, lifetime wander,
Breathless dreaming, turning magic,
Phantom healing,
Whence from this man takes my pain?

He has no other way
And life is but song in the park
Some may look the other way
For the song in our hearts
If we could only see the world
Through his eyes, through his songs
The way he sees

Can you hear the melodies?
Not from his voice, but from his heart
And of his soul

All that I can be (is as close a man as he)
All that I create (to his soul that I emulate)
Until one day I’m sure to find
A long-lost name I’ve left behind myself

MON MASQUE

You create an image
An image from your mind
Reflection of rejection
Commit the perfect crime
Can't let the truth escape from your head
And you won’t face it
Bury your head in sand
And you embrace it
Hiding away from it all…

Les murs de ton âme s’écroulent
Sous le masque ton visage brûle
To hear a conscience calling
From within another mask you hide

Mon masque dévoile de nombreux visages
Qui cachent ma peur latente
Mon esprit embué remplit les espaces
D’une realité cauchemar

My mask reveals many faces
Hiding the fear underneath
My mind fills empty spaces
Of a nightmare reality

Can’t you see pain from the traces?
Standing before hidden eyes
Phantom shapes, mystical places
Fulfill old prophecies

You can’t face the feeling
You can’t face yourself
Accepting of their jester
Security on a shelf

One… step… before I break
Two… more… I begin to shake…
Paranoid I begin to crawl behind… the façade
Repression is better than reality
Lose yourself, crawling out of dignity

One… step… before I break
Two… more… I begin to shake…
Paranoid I begin to crawl behind… the façade

Now tell me it’s all right, it’s ok
You can save your face for another day
Come out of hiding, try to believe
Don’t cast another wish in the well of deceit

I see that it’s not right
That look on my face
When you’re reasoning now
At the end of the day
Running for shelter, my reason for rhymes
Without this face a shell for emotions to hide…

(hiding) but now I have no place to go but face the fear
(reaching) for reason to this old rhyme
Justified insanity
(stirring) from the fears and doubts to realize the fool I am
(tearing) away this mask
My truth sees the light of day!

J’ai ouvert les portes vers un autre horizon
Un royaume dans lequel on voit
Tous les visages dans une mer de masques
