Thundering 04:09
I listen to the heartbeat of the earth beneath my feet I listen to the wind bisected by the city’s streets I listen to the raindrops exploding on the concrete I listen to the thunder promising the storm I took you for an angel, I took you for a saint I took you to my altar and you wrapped me in your fate Come a little closer ’cos the hour is getting late As we listen to the thunder which promises the storm You’ve shown me valleys and you’ve shown me hills I clatter like scrap metal and you melt me to your will I left you with the storm clouds and you’re holding them still As you listen to the thunder which promises the storm Thundering, I hear the rain coming Blundering, I slowly fall down Thundering, the lightning’s beginning As thin as your kiss or the paint on a clown

Jamie is a sad and lonely child His schoolmates call him names A funny little figure dressed in pain Jamie’s skin is salamander white A delicate young man who sleep the day away To rise at night The little boy has morbid fantasies About unlikely things which he would like to be Sometimes at night you’ll see him roam around Wearing plastic fangs Dressed only in his dressing gown He says he feeds on Earth, water, wind and fire He drank the dog and he drank the squire Earth, water, wind and fire Jamie was a vampire Do you know what he’s done? Do you know where he’s been? Can you hear what he heard? Can you see what he’s seen? If he takes you to dinner Will you be his main course? Won’t you just take his arm Or must he take you by force? Last week he climbed onto the roof And muttering in a strange tongue Flung himself into the air And fell to his death They buried him on a wet Tuesday morning When the dew hung heavy as an unfulfilled curse By Wednesday his grave was found open With a note which said: “I fooled you all” Laus Tibi Domine Rex Aeternum Gloria Miserere Alleluia Earth, water, wind and fire He drank the dog and he drank the squire Earth, water, wind and fire Jamie was a vampire

I fell into silence I closed my eyes against your words I hear them lap like waves against my eyelids You say I dream all day And if I don’t wake up I’ll dream my life away I hear what you’re saying Your common sense defeats the Gods The ones to which you say that I was praying You say I look transparent I know it’s true ‘cos I see through you And though I run And though I fly I cannot reach My peace of mind I chased the rainbow over all my friends I stepped upon their hearts and feelings I chased the rainbow away from all I knew But why’s my pot of gold so far from you? You say I dream all day and if I don’t wake up I’ll dream my life away I chased the rainbow over all my friends I stepped upon their hearts and feelings I chased the rainbow away from all I knew But why’s my pot of gold so far from you?

She’s the one behind the bar With the glasses and the smile She’s the perfect celebration To this minute we have filed And she knows that she is flirting And I hope she stays that way ‘cos if Lucy was a painting I could stare at her for days I’m in your power, you know it’s true I’d like to run but my feet are glued Tell me Lucy, what can I do? I’ll raise my glass to you Lucy wears her hair in pigtails Lucy wears her hair in braids Lucy’s eyes are almost deadly And she wields them like a blade And I’d follow her to China Like a pilgrim or a monk And I’d crumble like a ship Which hit the reef on which it sunk I’m in your power, you know it’s true I’d like to run but my feet are glued Tell me Lucy, what can I do? I’ll raise my glass to you Now she bends to grab a bottle Now she reaches for a glass Lucy counts me out my change How can I make this moment last? I’d slay dragons for her kiss I’d fight wars for her touch I’d swim oceans to discover How to make Lucy blush

Are you talking to me, John? Anyone else here? What are trying to say? Speak any English? Who do you think you are? Call me Sir D’you have a better way? Any way you want D’you have insurance? Don’t need insurance What are you waiting for? Your mouth to stop You throw the first punch You need instruction Wait for the cold floor Age before beauty Is that thing your face, John? Someone say something? Or did you neck throw up? What did you say, slim? If I looked like you You only wish I’d teach my ass to talk Don’t breathe on me You got a nerve, friend Got more than one You got it coming You and whose army? I’m gonna cut you up I got a gun Better get running What am I running from? Everyone is happy, everyone is free Everyone is peaceful, listen and you’ll see You’re a low-down, dirt-licking, mother-sucking, jerk-headed, dope-eyed, dog-faced, scum-brained, rat-bellied, sewed-tongue, spud-nose, lug-eared, bug-chinned, needle-dicked, paddle-armed, stick-legged, sponge-brained, mop-haired, wet-headed, loose-lipped, rattle-kneed, sway-backed, boat-footed, worm-hearted, jelly-chinned, cave-chested, pencil-necked, back-handed, snaggle-toothed, baggy-buttled, rag-wearing, yellow-haired jerk

The immortals here they dance their lives away See the signs and watch the Gods at play There you are, keeping your fears at bay See the Angel with the broken wing See the Devil who owns everything There’s your bell – now can you hear it ring? What gifts will your life bring? Follow the leader blindly and stupidly Open your mind to his beckoning call These are the times we stand by our windowsill Waiting for new rain to fall On through the smog caused by your cigarettes As your voice breaks through age and through fear Write me a beautiful and ignorant poem Sing me the song of the year These brave new warriors wailing your language To give you a haircut which tears you apart Are you the only one breathless and brilliant Who pierced the lobes of his heart? Find someone quickly whose smile is immortal Find the one reason why God built the girl Get on the freeway and torture your car While carving your name in the world Things come, things go, we stand, we fall Your voice, your call, are you really here at all? You touch, you taste, you run, you stay We save, we waste, this is just a relay race When the sky falls and swallows your village And when the dam breaks and dampens your soul When all your diamonds have rotted and tarnished And left you nothing but coal Then come out and find me and we’ll drink tequila We’ll pour it on youth and we’ll swallow the worm We’ll light it with brave unquenchable laughter And we’ll warm our hands as it burns Things come, things go, we stand, we fall Your voice, your call, are you really here at all?

This strange isolation That she feels inside when he’s around An unusual sensation That his words are nothing more than sounds Insulation of the mind Incompatible and blind This strange isolation That he knows that she suffers from This clear radiation Split in half like an apple or an atom They are foreigners at heart Together but apart And he knows she won’t suspect That society objects This strange isolation What is it he can feel that he cannot see? This strange isolation A contradiction of a lonely company They are foreigners at heart Together but apart Insulation of the mind Incompatible and blind But there are rumours going round People whisper and they frown Cruel suspicions on their mind How can they be quite so blind? If this is infatuation This deep river of taboo Let it flow onwards Onwards like rivers do If it’s abomination When he looks into her eyes He’ll choose damnation Jump into the Devil’s fire

Dancer 04:15
Shedding beauty like a snake-shed skin Come on dancer, let the dance begin Don’t get too close, stand back Let her have my heart attack Like a tornado she will suck you in This is her substitute for sin Move any quicker and she’ll catch fire Don’t touch her, she’s a live wire Oh dancer… dance… Weird creature on the dance floor Sweaty little dancer, dance some more Pursed lips, loose hips Beckoning little fingertips A touch of eye-shadow, a smear of rouge Watch her lizard-like legs move She acts cool but she looks hot Will she keep dancing if the music stops? Oh dancer… dance… Watch her leap, watch her pirouette The way she moves is a sure bet That she came in dry but she’ll leave here wet Come on dancer, let me see you sweat Weird creature on the dance floor Sweaty little dancer, dance some more She acts cool but she looks hot Will she keep dancing if the music stops? Oh dancer… dance… Watch her leap, watch her pirouette The way she moves is a sure bet That she came in dry but she’ll leave here wet Come on dancer, let me see you sweat
